Sometimes, it’s not the famous landmarks that leave the biggest impression—it’s the ordinary moments.

Last Saturday, Aiman and I decided to take the train from Teterow to Rostock for a relaxing father-and-son day out.

⏰ Our train was scheduled to leave at 9:30 am.

I walked out of the apartment at 9:24 am, realised I had only six minutes, and started a little sprint! 😄 Thankfully, the station was less than 800 metres away. By the time I reached the platform, the train was already there waiting.

🚉 The first train to Güstrow was quite packed—probably because it was Saturday—but the 30-minute journey was smooth, even though I spent most of it standing.

What continues to impress me whenever I’m in Germany is how predictable and easy public transport can be.

📱 Using the DB Navigator app, we could see:
• Departure and arrival times
• Every stop along the journey
• Which platform to change to
• Expected train occupancy
• Real-time updates throughout the trip

Together with Google Maps, planning the journey became almost effortless—from leaving the apartment to arriving at our destination.

🚄 At Güstrow, our connecting train to Rostock was exactly where the app said it would be. We had just enough time to change platforms and arrived as planned.

🚶‍♂️ One thing I particularly enjoy is that public transport brings you close to your destination. The remaining walk is usually less than a kilometre, and with the pleasant summer weather, walking becomes part of the experience rather than a chore.

🤝 Another thing that has always stood out to me is how comfortable it feels travelling here. People simply go about their daily lives, and as a visitor, I’ve always felt welcomed and treated with courtesy and respect.

As someone who has visited Germany many times, it’s often the little things that leave the biggest impression:
✅ Efficiency
✅ Predictability
✅ Safety
✅ Walkable cities
✅ Comfortable weather
✅ A pace of life that encourages you to slow down and enjoy the journey

Most importantly, this trip wasn’t really about trains or technology.

❤️ It was about spending quality time with my son, creating another memory together, and appreciating the simple moments that life gives us.

Sometimes, the best weekends don’t require elaborate plans—just good company and a willingness to explore.
