From Bachelor Degree in Malaysia to pursuing her architectural dream in Germany.

Last weekend, Aiman and I travelled to Berlin to catch up with one of our students, Suffiya.

Seeing her again was especially meaningful because I’ve had the privilege of following her journey over last year —from completing her Foundation, earning her Bachelor’s in Architecture, navigating university applications in Germany, securing accommodation and a student visa, and now beginning her Master’s in Architecture at Hochschule Anhalt in Dessau.

The biggest takeaway from our conversation wasn’t about grades or rankings.

It was how happy she is.

She told us that the programme has exceeded her expectations. Although with 60 students in her cohort, learning feels personal, and it’s common for the class to continue studying together long after lectures end. That sense of collaboration has made settling into a new country much easier.

She’s also pleased with where she’s staying. Although it’s slightly farther from campus than some of her classmates’ accommodation, she enjoys having a larger living space, a pleasant neighbourhood, and easy access to shops and daily amenities.

Her next goal is equally clear.

She arrived with A2 German, learned in Malaysia, and plans to continue her German studies next semester. Her ambition is to build her career in Germany after graduation—something that will require both professional skills and language proficiency.

As an architecture student, Germany is also an inspiring place to live. Every weekend presents an opportunity to experience historic districts, modern urban design, adaptive reuse projects, and world-renowned architecture firsthand—learning that extends far beyond the classroom.

Conversations like this remind me why we do what we do at Abroad EduWorld.

Helping a student receive an admission letter is only the beginning. The real reward comes months later, when you meet them again, see them settled into their new life, and hear them say, “This is even better than I expected.”

Moments like these remind us that education abroad isn’t simply about earning another degree. It’s about building confidence, independence, friendships, and a future.
